Date night. It usually involves a dinner or a movie, or if you’re really lucky, both. This couple took their date night to a whole new level and added some real creativity into their time together.
Noel Pauley runs a blog called Baby Bows and Bullets. She decided to create an entire blog post about her and her husband’s most recent date after it gained mega attention from Facebook.
Her and her husband, Shane, decided to make their date night extra fun and very memorable. They called it a “Goodwill date night” and followed three simple rules to make it happen.
One of Shane’s friends had attempted the creative idea before. The couple went to Goodwill and picked out their date’s outfit. Then Shane added the requirement that he and Noel HAD to wear the outfits they chose for one another the entire night.
The first rule was that each could only spend $10 at the Goodwill and that they had to wear whatever their significant other picked out. On Noel’s blog, she says this part was one of the most hilarious of the whole night.
“This cued the insane laughter from the start of the date night. My husband is absolutely goofy so as you can imagine I tried on some CRAZY outfits. We ended up only spending $13 for both masterpieces,” Noel said.
The next rule is to continue the night pretending the outfits are completely normal. No talking about them at all. Noel and Shane went to Longhorn for dinner, and as you can imagine they got plenty of laughs. Surprisingly, no bystanders said a single thing about the strange outfits, they only laughed and stared.
The final and third rule was that Shane and Noel both chose fake names that they had to respond to the entire date night. Noel was now “Ethel, ” and Shane took on “Roger.”
The couple received tons of feedback from their social media posts about their creative date night. Tons of people said they wanted to try it out too. Many comments told Noel and Shane how much they looked up to the couple for having such a fantastic relationship and especially for stepping out of the box and being fun with one another.
“Y’all I don’t think we have laughed this hard in a long time. Marriage is tough, parenting is tough, and honestly life is tough. But everything is better when you’re doing it with your best friend,” Noel said.
