Having a heart attack is a terrifying experience and witnessing one is as well, especially when it’s a teenager. For one woman, rather than being frozen in shock when this happened in front of her, she jumped into action, and then seemingly disappeared into thin air. This sent the victim and his Father on the hunt to find the rescuer.
While 15-year-old Robert Brown III and his father were having dinner at a County Cabin restaurant, Robert fell out of his chair unconscious and then started shaking. A woman knew what was happening and jumped in to save the day. After Brown was taken to the hospital, they lost track of the woman.
Now, thanks to the help of a local news channel, they were able to locate Brown’s rescuer. They were interviewed on TV about what happened and said they were trying to find the woman who saved his life. After the story aired, they were able to find her. Susan Pendygraft was the hero of the day.
When she witnessed Brown’s collapse, she knew she needed to do something. She immediately called 911, and they said she needed to perform CPR. Amazingly, she had been certified recently at work and knew exactly what to do. She said that while she was performing the CPR, it seemed like she was performing compressions on his chest forever. Finally, rescue crews arrived and were able to take over. The last thing she heard as he was wheeled out of the restaurant was that he had a pulse. She collapsed in relief.
From Robert’s perspective, he was grateful to be here still and able to spend more time with his Father, and he wanted to thank the person that gave him that opportunity. He and his Father were at the Country Cabin Restaurant for breakfast, and Robert was actually planning to apply for a job. He asked for the application and started filling it out, and the last thing he remembers is falling out of his chair. He is grateful that Pendygraft was there to rescue him, saying that he isn’t sure where he’d be or if he would even be alive if it weren’t for her. His father was also incredibly grateful for her help in saving his son.
Thankfully, Brown was revived and is recovering well. He recently got a phone call from the manager of the Country Cabin restaurant Rico Gjonaj. He wanted to let Brown know, that not only was he receiving a job offer, but they also wanted to hold a fundraiser in his name. Robert was grateful for the job opportunity and his second chance at life.
It’s amazing how our technology can connect us sometimes. These two people may have never reunited if it wasn’t for the news report on Brown’s story. Thankfully they found Pendygraft and thanked her for her help. The Browns found her the week she was supposed to go to New Orleans and marry her fiancé. What better way to be sent off to your wedding than being contacted by the person whose life you helped to save?
