1. Wesson
This pup’s story begins with hardship. Wesson was found bleeding and shaking inside an animal control cage. Stray Rescue of St. Louis saw him at the animal control center and took away immediately to their own facility. Wesson received medical attention and the story begins even grimmer. The rescue center figured out that Wesson had been shot in his back and bullet fragments remained inside the pup. Luckily for Wesson, the rescue center removed the fragments and now he has found his forever home.
2. Phoenix
His owner found this 11-week old puppy in a shelter. Phoenix had been surrendered and only had 3 days to find a new home or face being put down. His owner fell in love with his “sweet little face” and rescued him. Now Phoenix enjoys life in Pennsylvania and can look forward to gaining a furry sibling. His owner hopes to rescue another pup soon.
3. Nook Nook
Little Nook Nook only had two days until he would be euthanized at his pound in California. The Pitbull pup is 100% deaf and his owner believes he was given up because he was “unworthy” to use for breeding or fighting. An awesome rescue group based in Colorado called Peanuts Pit Bull Rescue saved Nook Nook’s life. His owner says she instantly fell in love with the little fella. Since the dog is deaf, he cannot be trained through verbal commands and instead has learned a full set of signs. What a truly heartwarming story.
4. Kirby
A dog once abandoned in the mountains was then deemed “unadoptable” due to health implications. Luckily, Kirby was adopted nonetheless by a shelter volunteer. His owner says Kirby is now part of an entire “wiener dog pack.” The dachshund was too loveable not to save.
5. Whisky
This dogs story starts out quite grim. Whisky’s previous owner wanted to euthanize him due to having a ‘low positive’ on a heartworm test. Whisky became a semi-permanent resident at the veterinary clinic. He was then labeled as unadoptable because he marked his kennel. His owner says she had worked at the clinic for about 6 months and immediately knew the dog was her soul mate. She says 5 months into her job, she found out Whisky would be euthanized for being at the clinic for such an extensive amount of time. Whisky is now heartworm free and his owner says he is a “big ham who loves treats, car rides, and attention.”
6. Hope
The name Hope makes perfect sense for this pup. Hope was seen roaming a wildlife preserve. She took 5 days to finally catch. The dog had a broken him and required surgery. Hope has been rescued. Her current caretaker is searching for Hope the perfect lifetime home and says Hope, “is truly a miracle, we adore her to pieces.”
7. Otis
Another story that begins with heartache but fortunately has a happy ending. When Otis was still in the womb with the rest of his litter, the owner’s child was hit by a car. The family knew they would be too busy taking care of their child and was forced to give up Otis’s mom and the pups. His owner found him at a local shelter. His first interaction with his soon-to-be owners was peeing on them and then never leaving their feet. His owner’s say it was as if he was choosing them. His owner says her and her husband had both previously lost their grandparents and Otis did an amazing job filling the void.
